The incident occurred on the evening of April 2, 2024, in a busy bar district of St. Julian’s. According to court records, the defendant struck the 30-year-old victim in the face with a hard object, causing a deep laceration above the right eyebrow. The wound required stitches and resulted in a 3 cm permanent scar.

Prosecuting Counsel Andrea Vella told the court the attack was unprovoked. “My client suffered both physical and psychological trauma,” Vella said. Defence lawyer James Farrugia acknowledged his client’s remorse and early guilty plea, asking the judge for leniency.
