The Malta Police Force has launched a public appeal to locate Mohamed Hussein Abdi, a 31-year-old Somali national, who is wanted in connection with an ongoing drug court case.

The Court Case

Abdi is connected to an incident on February 17, 2026, when 60 individually packaged cannabis sachets were seized during a police operation. On February 19, 2026, he appeared before Magistrate Lara Lanfranco, where he pleaded guilty to drug possession charges. Court records indicate he has been designated a recidivist—meaning he has prior drug convictions on his record, a status that carries significant legal consequences under Maltese law.

The case is formally filed as case file 13/2026.

Why Police Need Public Help

With Abdi now wanted in connection with his court case, the Malta Police Force is asking residents to help locate him. Police have indicated he is no longer at known residences and conventional investigative methods have not yielded his location. In a country as geographically compact as Malta, public awareness and community observation often prove decisive in locating wanted individuals.

How Residents Can Help

If you have information about Abdi's whereabouts or recent sightings, multiple reporting channels are available:

Call 119 (emergency line) or 21224001 for non-emergency reports

Facebook Messenger - Contact the Malta Police Force directly through their official Facebook page

Visit any police station in person with information

All reports should reference case file 13/2026 to ensure proper documentation and investigative routing. Anonymous reporting is available through all channels for those who prefer it.

Important Safety Note

Residents who believe they spot someone matching Abdi's description should not approach directly. Instead, contact police immediately using the channels above and allow trained officers to handle the situation safely.

The police appeal remains active. Any information, no matter how fragmentary, may assist investigators in locating Abdi and ensuring he returns to court as required. Residents are encouraged to report any credible sightings or relevant information promptly.
