The ADPD Green Party has announced "Ilkoll" (All of Us) as its official election slogan for Malta's May 30 general election. The move is notable for what it doesn't include: unlike Labour and the Nationalist Party, ADPD has opted not to pair the slogan with an explanatory subheading.

Why This Matters

The slogan approach sets ADPD apart from other parties contesting the 2026 election. Labour is running on "Int Malta" (You are Malta) paired with the subheading "Your dreams, our project." The Nationalist Party counters with "Nifs Ġdid" (A Fresh Start) under the tagline "This is Your Moment." Even smaller parties like Momentum have adopted the dual-message model, using "Bidla Ta' Vera" (Real Change) with the explanatory line "For a fair and beautiful Malta, free from control of the major parties and developers."

ADPD's decision to use a standalone slogan represents a departure from current campaign practice in Malta. In the 2022 election, the party ran with "Xkupa Ħadra Tnaddaf" (Green Sweeps Clean), another single-phrase slogan that relied on its message without additional framing.

What ADPD Says the Slogan Means

According to party campaign materials, "Ilkoll" is meant to emphasize collective ownership of the common good. The slogan anchors a platform prioritizing equitable wealth distribution and participatory democracy. ADPD's 2026 campaign centers on four themes: community, cooperation, ecology, and sustainability.

The party's platform includes ambitious environmental targets—50% renewable energy by 2030 and a zero-carbon economy by mid-century. On housing, ADPD has made affordability central to its campaign, arguing that young Maltese face systemic barriers to homeownership. The party has also advocated for a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system as a practical alternative to government-proposed rail projects, and has repeatedly called for greater transparency in public projects and full implementation of recommendations from integrity inquiries.

Context: ADPD's Electoral Position

ADPD remains a minor party in Malta's political ecosystem, consistently trailing Labour and the Nationalists in polling and parliamentary representation. The 2026 election will test whether the party's stripped-down messaging and policy-focused platform can expand its voter base.

For Maltese voters evaluating their options, the slogan offers a shorthand indicator of ADPD's broader value proposition. Those drawn to participatory democracy, sustainability-focused economic planning, and anti-corruption measures may find alignment with the party's platform. Voters seeking concrete details on jobs, housing subsidies, or immediate infrastructure projects may look to larger parties with more established track records.

What Comes Next

With over a month until election day on May 30, all parties are intensifying their campaigns. For ADPD, the challenge lies in converting the inclusive rhetoric of "Ilkoll" into tangible policy proposals that resonate with specific constituencies—young renters priced out of the housing market, environmentalists concerned by overdevelopment, and voters seeking stronger governance standards.

The party's emphasis on community, cooperation, ecology, and sustainability provides a policy framework, but translating that into voter action across Malta's electoral landscape remains the central test ahead.
